Our History:The beginnings of "Quality Care When You Cannot Be There" |
Tammy Carney, owner and director of Udder Angels, began her career in the medical field, and decided after getting married and starting her own family that she wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. After Tammy was approached by several people who asked if she would care for their children while they were at work, she realized her goal to not "just be a 'babysitter'," but instead to be an educator and mentor. Udder Angels was established in May 1998 as a Class 1, licensed in-home daycare located at State Road 28 in Alexandria, IN. We chose the name "Udder Angels" because the kitchen where it all started had a bovine theme. Mooo-ving forward two years, Udder Angels became a Class 2, licensed In-Home Daycare for 16 children. In August, 2003, Udder Angels became licensed as a commercial childcare center on West Adams Street in Alexandria; the new center became licensed for 40 children, ages 6 weeks-12 years. As part of Paths to Quality, Udder Angels received our third star in April 2010. In June 2011, we were nationally accredited by NAEYC! In July 2011, we received our fourth star from Paths to Quality. We now have a license for a total of 42 children ranging from 6 weeks to 12 years of age. Tammy and her staff have dedicated themselves to building Udder Angels into a reputable, nationally-recognized childcare program. |
